Product Information
3,5-Dichlorophenylhydrazine (3,5-DCPH) is a chloride molecule that can be used to produce anticancer drugs. It inhibits the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. 3,5-DCPH binds to a nucleophilic site on the enzyme GABA synthase and inhibits the stepwise addition of chlorine atoms needed for the production of GABA. The drug has shown cytotoxicity against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 3,5-DCPH also inhibits monoamine oxidase and may have anti-depressant effects.
