1,4,6-Trimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitrile is a chemical compound which has been studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and other techniques. It has been shown to have an inhibition efficiency of 99% against the growth of Bacillus cereus at a concentration of 0.125 millimolar. 1,4,6-Trimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitrile is also synergistic with other antimicrobial agents such as ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol. This compound is soluble in water and can be used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.
