Product Information
- (2S,4R)-pyrrolidine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid
L-trans-Pyrrolidine-2,4-dicarboxylic Acid (L-TPDCA) is a chemical compound that is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. L-TPDCA inhibits glutamate and dopamine release, as well as uptake of these neurotransmitters by neurons. This drug has been shown to reduce neuronal death in cell culture experiments, and inhibits the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that helps regulate neuronal activity. L-TPDCA also blocks the production of basic fibroblast growth factor, epidermal growth factor, and other growth factors.
