Isoxazole-5-carboxamide is an investigational drug that inhibits the ubiquitin-proteasome system. It has been shown to have potent inhibition against a wide range of viruses, including HIV, influenza, and polio. Isoxazole-5-carboxamide also inhibits the inflammatory response in experimental models of human diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. This drug has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the proteasome in cardiac muscle cells and is being investigated for its potential use in treating heart failure. The drug has not yet been tested on humans or animals for safety or efficacy.
