Cyhalothrin is a pyrethroid insecticide that has a synergic effect with chlorantraniliprole. Cyhalothrin binds to voltage-gated sodium channels, causing an influx of calcium ions into the cell, which leads to cell death. Cyhalothrin can be used as a control agent for insects such as fire ants and cockroaches. Cyhalothrin was shown to have a high effectiveness in controlling pests in cotton fields and pastures. The effective dose for cyhalothrin is about 0.5 mg/kg (3 mg/m²). The insecticidal activity of cyhalothrin is due to its ability to inhibit the transport inhibitor and fatty acid oxidation by oxidative phosphorylation.
