Product Information

Name:
2,3,24-Trihydroxy-12-ursen-28-oic acid
Controlled Product
Description:

The Chinese herb, 2,3,24-trihydroxy-12-ursen-28-oic acid (TUA), has been shown to inhibit the release of inflammatory cells and to have anti-tumor effects. TUA is a lipophilic molecule that is poorly soluble in water. It was found that TUA inhibited tumor growth in mice by degranulating cells and inducing apoptosis. The mechanism of action of TUA is not fully understood but may be due to interference with the LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, including inhibiting the production of organic acids, and inducing degranulation. This compound has also been shown to have a significant effect on lung infections caused by P. aeruginosa and other bacteria as well as some antibiotic resistance mechanisms.
