Advantame is a high-purity steviol glycoside that is used as a dietary supplement. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold in vitro. Advantame has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in rats. These effects may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6 by activating the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channels.
Advantame is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and alcohols. It has an odorless taste and can be dissolved in hot or cold water with no change in flavor. Advantame tablets are stable for up to one year when stored at room temperature or below.
