2-Aminobenzyl chloride is an enolate that can be used as a synthetic intermediate in the production of amines and other compounds. It has been shown to react with chlorine and disulfides, forming reactive intermediates. 2-Aminobenzyl chloride has been shown to have high yield, good stereoselectivity, and high purity. Impurities that may have been present in the sample have not yet been identified. The compound has also been used as a mass spectrometric reagent for determining the number of chlorides present in a sample. 2-Aminobenzyl chloride is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored under inert conditions.
