Product Information
- 1H-Indol-3-ol, 5-bromo- (=IN-3-0101-Boc)
5-Bromo-1H-indol-3-ol is an isoenzyme that is found in the tissues of mice. This enzyme was first identified and characterized in the proximal tubules of these animals. It has been shown to have a high affinity for p-nitrophenyl phosphate, which it hydrolyzes to produce 5-bromoindole and p-nitrophenol. The enzymatic activity of this enzyme increases with high concentrations of substrates and decreases with an increase in temperature or pH. 5-Bromo-1H-indol-3-ol is also genetically controlled. A study found that when mouse strains were bred for resistance to the drug, their tissues showed a lower level of expression of the gene encoding this enzyme. This suggests that there may be a genetic control mechanism that regulates this enzyme's activity.
