5-Chloro-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-fluoropyridine is a crystalline compound that belongs to the group of furans. It has an average molecular weight of 192.07, a melting point of 168-169°C, and a density of 1.35 g/cm³. The crystal structure consists of two tetrahedrons joined by one centrosymmetric pyridine ring and one dihedral pyridine ring. The molecule has six molecules in its asymmetric unit and contains no quinoxaline rings. 5-Chloro-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-fluoropyridine displays good solubility in organic solvents such as benzene, but not in water or ethanol. It also shows low reactivity towards bases such as tert-butyl lithium and dimethyl sulfoxide at room temperature, but reacts with sodium ethoxide at higher temperatures.
