Product Information
2-(5-Methylthiophen-2-yl)pyridine (MT2P) is a ligand that can be used to study the behavior of other molecules in the gas phase. The yields of MT2P are dependent on reaction conditions, such as solvent and temperature. It has been shown that diffraction patterns obtained with MT2P are similar to those obtained with terminal alkynes. Luminescence and photophysical studies have been carried out on MT2P, which showed it to be ancillary in nature. X-ray crystal structures were determined for MT2P, which revealed its isoelectronic character. The physicochemical properties of this ligand have been investigated using transfer equation theory, which showed that it is a strong Lewis acid and a weak Lewis base. Functional theory calculations show that chloride ions are the most likely anion for MT2P.
