Description:
2,5-Bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene is a polythiophene derivative that can be used to make luminescent polymers. It has a rigid geometry and exhibits intermolecular interactions. This compound has been synthesized by reacting ethynyl and linker molecules with the thieno[3,2-b]thiophene monomer. The emission spectrum of this compound is broad because it contains both singlet and triplet excitation energies. 2,5-Bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene also shows an absorption band at about 400 nm in the visible region of the spectrum.
