1,8-Dimethyl-4-oxo-4,5-dihydroimidazo[1,2-a]quinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid (BMS345541) is a potent anticancer agent that inhibits cell growth by inducing apoptosis. It is a prodrug that undergoes phosphorylation to form the active drug. BMS345541 binds to cancer cells and induces apoptosis through activation of caspase 3 and caspase 9. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of melanoma cells in culture, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis.
