Product Information
Piperazineacetic acid benzyl ester hydrochloride (PABA) is a synthetic amino acid that is used as a coagulant for the treatment of deep-vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and other forms of thromboembolic disease. PABA acts by activating platelets and stimulating fibrin formation in the blood. This drug also has proteolytic activity, which helps to break down proteins into smaller peptides. PABA is administered intravenously or through an extracorporeal circuit. The PABA residue in the blood can be detected by blood gas analysis and biochemistry tests, but it does not interfere with routine clinical laboratory tests.
