Product Information

Name:
Danshenol A
Synonyms:
  • Phenanthro(1,2-b)furan-11(2H)-one, 1,10-dihydro-10-hydroxy-1,6-dimethyl-10-(2-oxopropyl)-, (1R,10S)-
Description:

Danshenol A is a reactive chemical that is found in the Chinese herb, Salvia miltiorrhiza. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Danshenol A has also been shown to have cardiac hypertrophy inhibiting effects, which are related to its ability to interfere with protein synthesis and DNA synthesis. The hydrogen bond between danshenol A and proteins may be responsible for this effect. Danshenol A also inhibits the polymerase chain reaction, which is an important step in DNA replication. This chemical can also react with other compounds and form new substances called polymers or oligomers.
