Description:
Propanoic acid, 2-bromo-2-methyl-, 2-hydroxyethyl ester is a synthetic polymer that will be used to form poly(propanoic acid) (PPA). PPA is a biocompatible, hydrophilic and magnetic polymer that can be used as a macroinitiator. PPA has been shown to have an excellent plasma concentration profile and the rate of hydrolysis in acidic environments is low. It has also been shown to have high solubility in water and other organic solvents. The use of propanoic acid, 2-bromo-2-methyl-, 2-hydroxyethyl ester as a polymer will provide for increased reaction temperatures and decreased reaction times.
