Product Information
Cyclopentyladenine monomethanesulfonate (CPAMS) is a cell-permeable, irreversible inhibitor of adenylate cyclase. CPAMS inhibits the formation of cyclic AMP by binding to the catalytic site of adenylate cyclase. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a decrease in the concentration of intracellular cAMP, which causes decreased l-type calcium currents and membrane depolarization. CPAMS also acts as an agonist at membrane receptors and can inhibit spontaneous contractions in ileal muscle cells and phorbol myristate acetate-induced contractions in muscle cells. This drug has been shown to be effective against a variety of cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and colon cancer. CPAMS is used as an anticancer agent because it inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and RNA.
