(+/-) Threo-ethylphenidate hydrochloride is a psychoactive substance that is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is a racemic mixture of two stereoisomers: threo-methylphenidate and erythro-methylphenidate. The drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of ADHD. It can be administered orally or intravenously and is usually taken once daily in the morning. The most common side effects are insomnia, tachycardia, and increased blood pressure. Threo-ethylphenidate hydrochloride can cause death due to its effect on the central nervous system. This drug also has an electron affinity spectrometric value of -0.97 eV and a liquid chromatographic retention time of 2.3 minutes at 210 nm.
