Product Information
N-(2,3-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-8-yl)pivalamide (NMP) is a cinnamaldehyde analogue that inhibits the growth of bacteria through an unknown mechanism. NMP has been shown to inhibit bacteria by binding to the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. It has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme imidazopyridine carboxylate synthase in vitro. NMP is synthesized from 2,3-dimethylimidazopyridine and pivalic acid chloride in a palladium-catalyzed reaction with lithium chloride. The final product is then cyclized with acetic anhydride and chloroform.
