Product Information
Fluoroquinolone-based peptides, or FPTQs, are synthetic molecules that can bind to glutamate receptors and modify their function. They are being developed as a potential drug treatment for acute ischemic stroke. FPTQs were designed with two goals in mind: to target only neurons and not glial cells, and to prevent glutamate from activating the receptor. FPTQs have been shown to be effective at reducing neuronal death in animal models of stroke, but more research is needed before human clinical trials can be conducted.
