Product Information
Dichlororuthenium(II) is a human carcinogen that has been shown to cause cancer in the liver, lungs, and stomach. It binds to DNA by forming hydrogen bonds with the 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) residues. This binding interferes with the transcription of DNA into RNA. Dichlororuthenium(II) also causes structural changes in DNA by binding to single-stranded dna, which blocks the ability of enzymes to bind and repair dna damage. The presence of dichlororuthenium(II) can be detected using bioanalysis techniques such as x-ray crystallography or electrochemical data analysis.
