Product Information

Name:
Isoscabertopin
Description:

Isoscabertopin is a sesquiterpene lactone with anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to reduce the size of the prostate in rats, and to have potential use as an anticancer agent. Isoscabertopin has been shown to be hepatoprotective in rats and may have potential as a drug for inflammatory diseases. Isoscabertopin's mechanism of action is not yet elucidated, but it is envisaged that it inhibits inflammatory reactions by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8. The protective effect of protocatechuic acid on rat liver cells was also studied using explants and caco-2 cells. Protocatechuic acid was found to protect against oxidative stress induced by tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tBHP) or iron overload induced by ferric chloride (FeCl3) in both
