Fenthion-d6 is a pesticide that belongs to the class of pyrethroid pesticides. It is used in agricultural and veterinary medicine as an insecticide. Fenthion-d6 has been shown to have a low toxic effect on mammals, with a lethal dose of 2,000 mg/kg. It has been detected in surface water at concentrations up to 6 μg/L, which is below the maximum concentration limit (MCL) of 10 μg/L. Fenthion-d6 has also been detected in foodstuffs such as fructus (1-10 μg/kg), milk (0.01-0.04 μg/kg), and meat (0.01-0.02 μg/kg). The main metabolite of this pesticide is fenthionol, which can be used for monitoring purposes by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry or electron capture detection methods.
