Product Information
2-Phenylisonicotinaldehyde (2PSAL) is a lead compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. 2PSAL inhibits the transcription of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), which is a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes associated with cellular growth, differentiation and metabolism. The activity of 2PSAL was tested on colon cancer cells in vitro, where it inhibited HIF-1α protein synthesis and induced apoptosis. It has also been shown to inhibit metastasis by inhibiting activin signaling pathways.
