Description

Epigoitrin is a uridine derivative that has been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes simplex virus in cell culture. It acts as an antiviral agent by inhibiting the enzyme acyclovir synthase and thus preventing the synthesis of DNA. Epigoitrin also possesses synergistic effects with chlorogenic acids, which have been shown to decrease the severity of symptoms induced by infectious diseases. Epigoitrin can be used in Chinese medicine preparations, such as chinese herb or nutrient solution, for its synergic effect on other herbs.
