3,5-Dichloropyridine N-oxide is a diazo compound that has a constant and symmetrical structure. The vibrational frequencies of the molecule are in the infrared region between 1,000 and 2,000 cm-1. 3,5-Dichloropyridine N-oxide is protonated at the nitrogen atom. This protonated form can be detected by its characteristic absorption in the ultraviolet region at about 260 nm. 3,5-Dichloropyridine N-oxide also has methyl ketones as functional groups.
