Product Information
- Benzenemethanamine, N,N-dimethyl-4-nitro-
- N,N-Dimethyl(4-nitrophenyl)methanamine
N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrobenzylamine is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of drugs. The chloride ion reacts with 4-nitrobenzylamine to form a nitrochloride. This process is followed by a positron emission and then decay to dimethylamine. The reaction yield is dependent on the ratio of reactants, which can be altered by changing the concentration of one or both reactants. N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrobenzylamine has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis in certain types of cancer cells such as those from breast and lung cancers. It also inhibits tumor growth in mice with sarcoma 180 transplanted into the hind limb without any adverse effects on healthy tissue. Sorafenib, a drug for human cancer, was developed using this compound as a precursor molecule.
