4-(2-Octylamino)diphenylamine is a skin allergen that is used as a sensitizer to identify and characterize the profiles of pyralidae. It has been shown to be permeable through the skin and may regulate the production of allergens. This allergen is an attractant, which means that it can sensitize individuals to allergens by increasing their reactivity to them. It also has antioxidant properties, which may reduce the severity of symptoms in people who are sensitive to this chemical. 4-(2-Octylamino)diphenylamine can be used as a general screen for skin allergens, but it cannot be used for diagnosis because of its low specificity.
