Product Information
2-Chloro-3-(methylamino)-1,4-dihydronaphthalene-1,4-dione (2CAM) is a fluorescent compound that has been used as a pesticide. It is a formyl derivative of 2,3-dihydro-1,4-naphthoquinone. 2CAM was first discovered in the 1930s and has been used for pest control since the 1950s. The molecule can be analysed with a spectrometer and detected with an energy detector. The molecular ion of 2CAM can be detected by electron ionization or chemical ionization methods. The detection limit of this compound is very low, which makes it suitable for use in screening methods to detect residues on crops or animals.
2CAM emits light when irradiated with ultraviolet light and has been used as a diathermy agent in the treatment of cancerous tumours. It is also used as an analytical re
