Lead(II) acetylacetonate is a metal ion that is used as a catalyst. The activation energy for the oxidation of glycols to produce formaldehyde and water is determined by the type and concentration of lead acetylacetonate. Lead acetylacetonate also has been shown to catalyze the cross-coupling reaction between organometallic reagents, such as methylmagnesium bromide, and substituted biphenyls. Lead(II) acetylacetonate has been analysed with microscopy and diffraction (XRD).
