Diallyldibutyltin is an organotin compound that has the chemical formula CH(CH)2Sn-CH2-CH2-S-CH3. It is a colorless oily liquid with a boiling point of 84°C. Diallyldibutyltin can be used as a catalyst, such as in polymerized metathesis reactions. It has been found to have a viscosity of 2.6 cps in chloroform and an optical rotation of -0.47° in ethanol. Diallyldibutyltin is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, but insoluble in water and other halides. It can be allylated by reacting with allyl chloride or allyl bromide, leading to the formation of oxetane derivatives.
