Description

Terbium tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate) is a class 3a compound of the terbium ion. It has a dimeric structure with an orthorhombic crystal structure. Terbium tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate) is volatile and can be crystallized from a solution of tetrahydrofuran with the use of heat or by cooling. The molecule has been shown to have a transition temperature of about -245°C. Terbium tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate) has been used in microscopy and molecular orbital studies.
