Product Information
5-Hydrazinylquinoline is a diazonium salt of 5-aminopentanoic acid. It is an analogous compound to the arylhydrazines, which are used in research to synthesize other compounds. The 5-aminoquinoline reacts with the diazonium salt to form 5-hydrazinylquinoline and ammonia. This reaction can be carried out on a large scale using anhydrous solvents such as acetone or ethanol. The use of anhydrous solvents means that no water is present, which eliminates the need for drying agents or complex distillation techniques.
5-Hydrazinylquinoline is carcinogenic and may lead to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as benz[a]pyrene when heated above 200 °C (392 °F).
