Product Information

Name:
3,5-Octadiyn-1,8-diol
Synonyms:
  • 3,5-Octadiyne-1,8-Diol
  • Timtec-Bb Sbb009113
Description:

3,5-Octadiyn-1,8-diol is a synthetic polymer that has been studied for use in the production of polyurethane. It is created by combining two monomers, octadienal and diol. The synthesis of this polymer is achieved through a process called irradiation. In order to make 3,5-Octadiyn-1,8-diol chains, the monomers are mixed with radiation and then heated. 3,5-Octadiyn-1,8-diol has been shown to have good resistance to ultraviolet light (UV) and radiation because it does not break down as easily as other polymers. Raman spectroscopy can be used to identify the molecular weight of 3,5-Octadiyn-1,8-diol chains in order to determine its purity and quality.
