Product Information
- 2,5-Norbornadiene-2,3-dicarboxylic Acid
- Bicyclo[2.2.1]Hepta-2,5-Diene-2,3-Dicarboxylic Acid
Bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (BCHDA) is a diacid that belongs to the class of compounds known as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogues. It has been used in pharmacological treatments for mood disorders and schizophrenia. GABA receptors are ligand-gated ion channels that are activated by GABA, which is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. BCHDA binds to these receptors and increases their activity, resulting in increased chloride conductance across the cell membrane and decreased neuronal excitability. The NMR spectra of this compound show nitrogen atoms at positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7.
