Product Information
(Cyanomethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is a cytotoxic agent that inhibits the polymerization of tubulin, resulting in the inhibition of microtubule assembly and cell division. It has been shown to have an antidepressant effect by inhibiting the binding of neurokinin-1 to its receptor. This drug has two isomers, one with fluorine and one without. The fluorinated isomer binds to the active site of tubulin and prevents the polymerization of tubulin into microtubules. The methoxy group on this drug interacts with the heteroaryl groups on tubulin, forming a covalent bond at the active site. Tetrapeptide derivates are effective against cancerous cells through their ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to tubulin.
