Product Information
2-Amino-[1,8]naphthyridine-3-carbonitrile is a butyrophenone analog of the pyrido, ethyl cyanoacetate class of compounds. It has been shown to react with methylene groups in DNA to form covalent adducts and inhibit DNA synthesis. The compound binds to the enzyme methionine synthase, which is required for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine and plays a role in the metabolism of folate. 2-Amino-[1,8]naphthyridine-3-carbonitrile has also been found to be an effective inhibitor of butyrophenone hydroxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of butyrophenones into their active form.
2-Amino-[1,8]naphthyridine-3-carbonitrile also inhibits alkenyl reductases and cytochrome P
