It has a melting point of 189-190 °C and a boiling point of 179 °C, with spectral data including IR (neat), 13C NMR (DMSO-d6), and 1H NMR. The compound hydrolyzes to form an imine and then reacts with ethoxycarbonyl chloride to form the corresponding chloroacetate ester. Analysis of the compound by IR spectroscopy showed peaks at 1753 cm-1, 1704 cm-1, 1628 cm-1, and 1454 cm-1.
