2-(2,3-Dimethylphenyl)ethanol is a chemical that belongs to the class of biochemicals. It is used in animals and tissues for its inhibitory effect on enzyme activities. 2-(2,3-Dimethylphenyl)ethanol has been shown to inhibit specific primers and cdna synthesis in human cancer tissues. This compound also inhibits the enzyme activity of 7-ethoxycoumarin o-deethylase in rat liver microsomes. 2-(2,3-Dimethylphenyl)ethanol has an alkaliphilic nature, meaning it can survive at higher pH levels than most other compounds. The molecule is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in ether or chloroform.
