Product Information

Name:
Pinusolidic acid
Synonyms:
  • 1-naphthalenecarboxylic acid, 5-[2-(2,5-dihydro-2-oxo-3-furanyl)ethyl]decahydro-1,4a-dimethyl-6-methylene-, (1S,4aR,8aR)-
Description:

Pinusolidic acid is a neuroprotective agent that has been shown to inhibit the production of amyloid-beta peptides and reduce the aggregation of these peptides. Pinusolidic acid has also been shown to have a protective effect against Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases. This compound is an inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) which is involved in the regulation of insulin signaling pathways. Pinusolidic acid has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in cancer cells by inhibiting the activity of cyclin D1, a protein required for cell cycle progression. It also inhibits the activity of human protein kinase c (PKC).
