2,7-Diisopropylnaphthalene is an organic compound belonging to the group of naphthalenes. It has two isomers that are distinguished by the number and position of methyl groups on the benzene ring. 2,7-Diisopropylnaphthalene is a colorless liquid that decomposes at temperatures above 100°C. The reaction of 2,7-Diisopropylnaphthalene with hydrochloric acid yields chlorinated derivatives and metal ions. This reaction product can be used as a starting point for the synthesis of other compounds in organic chemistry. The reaction of 2,7-Diisopropylnaphthalene with isooctane also produces chlorinated products and metal ions, but it does not produce any oxidation catalyst.
