1-(Methoxymethyl)-1H-indole is a hydroxymethyl derivative of 1H-indole. It has antiproliferative activity and has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro. This drug is a prodrug that can be converted by hepatic amidases into its active form, which inhibits DNA synthesis. The bisindolylmaleimide moiety of this drug is responsible for its cytotoxic properties. 1-(Methoxymethyl)-1H-indole can also inhibit the growth of bacteria through inhibition of protein synthesis.br>br>
