Product Information
Acetylenic cypermethrin is a potent, selective and reversible inhibitor of ligand-gated ion channels. It has been shown to inhibit nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the CNS with an IC50 value of 1.7 nM, which is comparable to the potency of curare. Acetylenic cypermethrin inhibits protein interactions by binding to alpha-helical peptides in the receptor site and blocking ligands from binding. This inhibition prevents activation of G proteins and downstream signaling events induced by receptor stimulation.
Acetylenic cypermethrin is a research tool for studying the pharmacology of ion channels, as well as for elucidating the role of these channels in cell biology. Acetylenic cypermethrin can be used to inhibit specific ion channels found in cells such as neurons or muscle cells, which can be useful for studying diseases that are caused by mutations in ion channel genes such as epilepsy or myasthenia
