Product Information

Name:
N,N-Dibenzyl-4-bromoaniline
Description:

Azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) is a strong organic nitro group that can be used as an initiator for free radical polymerization, such as ethylene. AIBN can be used in the synthesis of dibenzyl-4-bromoaniline by reacting with benzyl bromide and ethylene. This reaction yields a monomer that has affinity for primary amines. The magnetic properties of this compound make it useful for synthesizing magnetic nanoparticles that can be used in sensors. Dibenzyl-4-bromoaniline is also catalytic, which allows it to be used in cross-linking reactions. A cross-linking agent could be added to the reaction to form a network of molecules that are chemically bound together. This would increase the strength of the material and allow it to withstand more stress or impact than if it were not cross-linked.
