Product Information

Name:
5,6-trans-Alfacalcidol
Description:

Alfacalcidol is a form of vitamin D that is used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and for pharmacological treatment. It has been shown to have physiological effects, such as potent inducers of enzymes, in combination with other drugs. Alfacalcidol has been shown to be effective in treating congestive heart failure by increasing the amount of calcium in the blood, thereby decreasing the level of phosphates. This drug also increases the production of red blood cells and decreases the number of platelets in the blood. Alfacalcidol can be used as a biochemical research reagent because it inhibits cytochrome P450 enzyme activity and can be used to measure alkaline phosphatase activity. It also helps to regulate metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus type I and II, which are caused by insufficient insulin secretion or insulin resistance.
