Product Information

Name:
Ophiopogonin C
Description:

Ophiopogonin C, also known as OPC, is a saponin found in plants of the genus Ophiopogon. It has been shown to enhance the transport of cholesterol to brain cells and also improve their function. OPC also showed potential for use in the treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Co-treatment with OPC and amyloid protein led to a decrease in amyloid protein aggregation and improved the ability of cells to coagulate blood. This may be due to an upregulation of proteins that bind calcium ions, which are required for coagulation. The chemical structure of OPC is similar to that of saponins found in other plants such as Muscari, which have been used medicinally for centuries.
Opc has been studied as a possible treatment for various types of cancer including prostate cancer because it inhibits cell proliferation.
