Pirbuterol acetate is a medication that belongs to the group of monoclonal antibodies. It is used as a bronchodilator to treat chronic bronchitis, asthma and other airway diseases. Pirbuterol acetate also has anti-inflammatory effects and inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators. The drug binds to bromodomain proteins found in inflammatory cells, inhibiting the function of these proteins. The mechanism of action is not fully understood but may involve toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signalling pathways. A number of studies have shown that pirbuterol acetate can reduce blood pressure in animals, although this effect has not been demonstrated in humans.
