AG 1024 is a potent inhibitor of the IGF-1R kinase. It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. AG 1024 also inhibits the phosphorylation of IGF-1R, which prevents the activation of downstream signaling pathways, such as phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase B (AKT). AG 1024 also displays inhibitory properties on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification process. AG 1024 can be used to diagnose bowel disease or resistant breast cancer.
