1-Stearoyl-2-arachidonoyl-sn-glycerol (1S2A-PG) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that acts as an endocannabinoid. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of cation channels and activate the protein phosphatase 2A, which inhibits the activation of protein kinase C, thereby preventing cardiac hypertrophy. 1S2A-PG also has an excitatory effect on rat cardiomyocytes by stimulating diacylglycerol and membrane interactions. 1S2A-PG is found in neurons and endocannabinoids are believed to be involved in neuronal function.
