Product Information
3-(4-Bromophenyl)propyl amine is a phthalic anhydride that has been synthesized from 4-bromoaniline and propylene oxide. It has shown antitumor activity in human tumor cell strains, as well as inhibition of growth in human tumor cells. 3-(4-Bromophenyl)propyl amine may be metabolized by the liver to 3-(4-bromophenyl)propanol, which may have some antitumor activity. Structural formula: C6H5CH2CH2Br
The synthesis of 3-(4-bromophenyl)propyl amine starts with the Friedel-Crafts acylation of benzene with propylene oxide and is followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid. The resulting product is then oxidized to produce the desired product.
